What is Course Reserve?
Course Reserve is a collection of required and background reading material for University papers which is likely to be in high-demand . It includes library books, journal articles (mostly in electronic form), and other documents provided by lecturers.
e-Course Reserveprovides online access to journal articles and book chapters.
Where is Course Reserve?
There are two Course Reserve collections. These are held:
- At the Lending Desk on level 2 of the Library (this now incorporates the Law Course Reserve collection)
- At the Lending Desk in theEducation Library
How do I find out what's on Course Reserve for my paper?
- Go to theLibrary Catalogue
- Click on the red "Course Reserve" tab on the Catalogue home page.
- Select your paper code from the drop-down menu in the "Paper" field
- Write down the call number of the item you want to borrow
How do I borrow a Course Reserve?
Bring your student ID card and the call number of the item you wish to borrow to the Issue Desk.
How long can I borrow Course Reserve items for?
Course Reserve items are issued for 2 hours. Occasionally if an item is in high demand, the borrowing period may reduce to 1 hour.
How many Course Reserve items can I borrow at a time?
You can borrow one book or one Uncat or two folders at a time.
What is an e-Reserve?
E-Reserves are journal articles, extracts from books, and material from lectures, which you can view on-line.
To access an e-reserve:
- Click on the Course Reserve tab in theLibrary Catalogueand enter your paper code (eg ACCT101).
- E-Reserves appear within the list of items held at Course Reserve for your paper, but have "electronic resource" in their title.
- Double-click on the title of the e-reserve you wish to view, and then on the "E-items" link.
- The article will display on your screen.
