These PDF versions of the annual volumes from 1888-1894 indicate how the statutes were orginally passed and do not reflect subsequent repeals/amendments.

We now have access to the HeinOnline database
This database is available through the library's databases page. The individual journals within the database will be linked through the library catalogue in the next month or so. HeinOnline journals are also searchable on Google Scholar.

From 6pm on Sunday 2 November for at least 6 hours.
This outage is to accommodate for the Daylight Saving Time change in the United States. During this time, LexisNexis NZ, LexisNexis AU, Nexis.com, Lexis.com and LexisNexis Publisher will not be accessible due to the maintenance work. LexisNexis apologises for any inconvenience caused.

Human Rights Documents Online (HRDO) will ultimately contain all human rights documents collected by the Human Rights Internet (HRI) in Ottawa in Canada since 1980. These documents emanate from 417 non-governmental human rights organisations (NGOs) worldwide, some of which have a universal scope, whilst others focus on the attainment of human rights in a specific area of the world.

Police use wiki to create law
NZ police have launched a wiki open to anyone wanting to edit and make suggestions to the Police Act as part of a wider revamp. New Zealand's current Police Act is nearly 50 years old. In March 2006 a review was undertaken and The Police Act Wiki has been launched to allow people to suggest wording for the new Policing Act. It uses similar wiki technology to the popular user-generated site Wikipedia. The wiki version of the Policing Act will be viewed by New Zealand parliamentarians, before an official bill is introduced into Parliament."

New additions to LexisNexisNZ database
The following have been added to the LexisNexisNZ Database: Hinde McMorland & Sim. Land Law; Immigration Practitioners Bulletin; Case Citator; Commercial Law in New Zealand; Ford's Principles of Corporations Law. We are organising for these to be linked from the online catalogue (as this is often the easiest way to locate them) as well as through the Library Link Databases list but they may not show up there for a week or so.

The library has a 6 month trial of the following database: International Security & Counter-Terrorism Reference Center.
ISCTRC is unique in the information industry as the only resource to aggregate expert content relating to terrorism, security and counter-terrorism from a vast array of publishers and sources. As an Open Source database, 100's of scholarly (peer-reviewed) journals are combined with country reports, risk analysis reports, books/monographs, magazines, news feeds, blogs, FAQs, primary source documents, trade journals, defence industry reports and much more.
This database is accessible through EBSCO Megafile.

Maori Land Court Minute Books Index
This is now available via Librarylink Databases.
We have subscribed to this database from Knowledge-Basket which provides easy and quick access to over 1100 minute books between 1865 and 1910, from the Taitokerau, Waikato-Maniapoto, Tairawhiti, Waiariki, Aotea, Takitimu, and Waipounamu Maori Land Court Districts.

CommonLII database
The Australasian Legal Information Institute (AustLII) would like to announce the launch of the Commonwealth Legal Information Institute (CommonLII), located Like other LIIs, CommonLII is a free access and non-profit facility. CommonLII already allows browsing and searching of 464 databases from 50 Commonwealth and common law countries and territories. Most of these databases are located on existing LIIs in Commonwealth countries but CommonLII contains 44 databases from 28 additional countries.

A searchable index of legal essays from several English language jurisdictions. Index to the Common Law FestschriftenJointly produced by the University of Auckland and the Law Foundation of New Zealand - Te Manatu a Ture o Aotearoa.
"The Index to Common Law Festschriften is the culmination of a three-year project funded by the Law Foundation and undertaken by a small team at the University of Auckland Library and Law School under the direction of Professor Mike Taggart. This is the first index of contributions to common law Festschriften and fills a serious bibliographic gap in the literature of the common law.
There are some 270 common law Festschriften indexed on this database, amounting to over 4,500 chapter entries. In addition, there are more than a thousand entries of English language contributions to predominantly foreign language, non-common law Festschriften from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. "

Staff Changes in the Law Library
From August there will be a few staff changes in the Law Librar. From August Fiona Corcoran will be the Acting Law Librarian while Kay Young is the Library's Acting Information Services Manager. We will also be losing our Law Library Computer Consultant James Brunskill who will be relocating to the Library Computer Operations Group.
