Introduction
Several thousand short stories have been written by several hundred New Zealanders. Those stories have appeared in journals and books published in New Zealand and overseas. The indexes on these pages aim to help people find what stories authors have written and to provide information which locates the magazines, journals, books and anthologies that have carried the stories. The database covers stories from the middle of the nineteenth century through to the late twentieth century with a final cut-off date of 1991.
The first index allows searching by surname of the author. Where the story has appeared in a book there is a link to another listing, which provides bibliographic details of that book. Where the story has appeared in a journal the name of the journal together with the date and issue number are provided.
