Requesting New Material for the Collections

Academic Staff are able to request the acquisition of new items and journal subscriptions.

Please make the request through your Faculty, School or Programme Representative, or through your Subject Librarian. Recommendations for the purchase of general interest titles can be made through the Comments and Suggestions form.

Following the Progress of an Order

It is possible to check on the library catalogue whether an order has been placed or not. Find the record for the book on the catalogue and check its holdings. If it has been ordered it will read "1 copy ordered as of DD-MM-YY". When the books arrive, their holdings location will change to state that the order has been received.

Any queries about an order at any stage of the ordering process can be directed to the Monographs Team.

New Books

New books are displayed on the New Book Display for one week, with the display changing each Wednesday.

If a staff member wishes to be notified when a book arrives, please let your Subject Librarian know and they will note this on the order. A notice will be sent out at the time the book goes on display.

If a title has been received and you require it urgently, please request the title at the Service Desk or email Lending Services. They will arrange priority processing and have it in the library within 24 hours (in most cases).

Serials

Please submit all requests for new journals and databases via the New Journal Subscription Application Form. Information on journal prices can be obtained from the Serials Librarian. Any cancellations, in the first instance, should go through your Faculty, School or Programme Representative who will forward the request to the Serials Team.

New issues of print journals are displayed on the New Journals Display. This is changed each Wednesday.
