More schools benefit from Waikato University computer upgrades
6 July 2011
Computer Magic: Students from Kaipaki Primnary School enjoy their computers that were donated as part of Waikato University's Computer Donationals programme.
Three Hamilton schools are the latest outfits to benefit from computer upgrades at the University of Waikato.
Twenty computers were given to Insoll Avenue School, Hamilton Seventh-Day Adventist School and Kaipaki School as part of the university’s Computer Donations Programme.
The university’s Computer Donations Programme sees retired university computers in good condition donated to schools and early childhood centres in the greater Waikato region. The scheme began in the Faculty of Education and is now a university-wide policy.
Already this year more than 60 computers have been given to Thames South School, Tauriko School in Tauranga, Ngāruawāhia High School and Te Akau School.
Waikato University upgrades its 4500 PCs on a rolling basis about every four years. Schools and early childhood centres can approach the university with requests for computing equipment by visiting the Computer Donations Programme website at www.waikato.ac.nz/about/community/donations.shtml.
