My Experience

Working in Primary and Intermediate schools to bring about change that leads to better outcomes of students has given me a wide range of experience. Building collaborative learning communities within and across schools, using coaching and mentoring tools, allows leaders and teachers to challenge each other’s practice in a safe, caring, focused and challenging environment. This supportive but challenging learning environment ensures that students in their schools are learning, and those who are priority learners learn at an accelerated rate.

Since participating in a four-year Ministry of Education Research Project investigating the practice of those who work with Teachers in Classrooms, I have spent a number of years honing my skills in Teaching as Inquiry.  Understanding the levels and changes in thinking that is required to be an effective, reflective and motivated teacher is vital so that this notion of Teaching as Inquiry can be truly embraced by teachers and leaders.
