The University of Waikato - 2011 Th3sis in 3 Competition
The 2011 Th3sis in 3 Final was held on Wednesday 26 October at the Clarence Street Theatre in Hamilton. With Te Radar as the evening’s compère, the Final was an exciting mix of entertainment and intellectual stimulation. Our 10 finalists delivered their presentations to an auditorium of staff, friends, family and members of the general public.
Congratulations to our 2011 Th3sis in 3 winner:
Debrin Foxcroft (Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences – Political Science & Public Policy) with her presentation titled “Justice Vs Democracy: The problem with choosing amnesty”. Debrin took away the grand prize of $5,000, to use towards research expenses.
Congratulations to our Runner-Up winner:
Shujie (Phoebe) Guo (Waikato Management School - Management Communication) with her presentation titled “Childbirth, culture & communication: A matter of conception”. Phoebe received $2,500, to use towards research expenses.
Phoebe was also awarded the University of Waikato People’s Choice Award and received $500.
Our three finals judges for the night were – Anna Bounds (Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Operations) at the University of Waikato), Julie Hardaker (Mayor of Hamilton City) and Warwick Silvester (Emeritus Professor at Waikato University).
