Other Study Options

The School offers other study opportunities that allow you to study in the comfort of your own home. You can study the Māori language through the Te Ako Tauhōkai method of delivery (distance education) or through the NET. We also offer Development Studies online and Interpreting and Translating Māori online.

Te Tohu Paetahi is a programme for those students with a commitment to learning Māori who wish to complete a Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Māori and Pacific Development (BMPD) degree taught through the medium of te reo Māori. We also offer Te Tohu Paetahi at the Tairāwhiti Polytechnic under an Articulation agreement.

The Ministry of Education’s Secondary Tertiary Alignment Resource (STAR) funding is a capped resource available to secondary, composite, area or special schools that have Years 11 to 13 students. It is not available to private schools and foreign fee-paying students. Private schools can enrol students in STAR offerings; however they are not entitled to STAR funding.
