Description | Graduate and postgraduate students from the University of Waikato and other New Zealand universities are warmly invited to join the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at the University of Waikato in this annual celebration of graduate student research. We invite 200-word abstracts for paper submissions from graduate and post-graduate students studying at any New Zealand university in the Arts, Social Sciences, Psychology, or related disciplines. Full written papers will be considered for publication in a special conference issue of Te Kura Kete Aronui, the Faculty’s peer-reviewed electronic graduate journal, showcasing original research by graduates and postgraduate students. (This will be published in 2017.) The annual FASS Interdisciplinary Postgraduate Conference is an excellent opportunity for graduate and postgraduate students to come together from across New Zealand to share their ideas and research in a supportive, professional and congenial environment. Papers will be organised into theme-related panels, chaired by academic staff members and postgraduate students from the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, who will also serve as discussants. The conference will begin on Thursday 21 October with registrations in S Block from 8.30am before our opening keynote speaker session. The conference concludes on Friday 22 October with an evening cocktail reception. PRESENTATIONS: Presenters will each be allocated 15 minutes to present their research, followed by five minutes for questions. There will be a $500 prize for the best paper presented on each day of the conference and a $250 prize each day for a highly commended paper.
SUBMISSION DEADLINES: 200-word abstracts for papers presentations must be received no later than 4pm, Monday 3 October and should include your name, full contact details and institutional affiliation (department/programme and University).
