Maybe it’s because we live on an island, or maybe it's our culture of free thought, but innovation is undoubtedly ingrained into the New Zealand way of life. A safe environment and living peacefully is an essential part of the kiwi way of life. In the 2016 Global Peace Index survey, New Zealand ranked 4th in the world. Our independent justice system is highly regarded worldwide and in 2015, the World Justice Project ranked us 6th out of 102 for the quality of our legal system.
A big perk of New Zealand life is exploring our natural playground. Our country packs a lot into a small space making it possible to travel from towering mountains to cities to beaches within a couple of hours. Popular tourist destinations close to campus include the golden sand beaches of Mount Maunganui, the culture explosion that is Rotorua, Waitomo Caves, Hobbiton, and the wild surf beaches of Raglan.

In fact, the Legatum Prosperity Index, ranks New Zealand number one in the world for six of the past 10 years. The index looks at a range of variables such as economic quality, business environment, governance, education, health, safety and security, personal freedom, social capital and natural environment.
Like most of New Zealand, Hamilton - Waikato boasts a mild climate with warm summers and winters sometimes described as chilly, but rarely freezing. In summer (December to February) temperatures range from 21 – 26°C, and in the winter months (June to August) from 10 – 14°C.
