Health and Physical Education is about learning in health and movement contexts to promote the wellbeing of students, others and of society. In learning to teach Health and Physical Education, students examine how planning for learning and effectively managing the learning environment, supports the development of inclusive learning opportunities that meet the diverse needs of all learners. This paper moves students beyond traditional understandings of health and physical education in schools to develop the skills and knowledge to reimagine HPE. The outcome of the paper will see teachers be able to support children in primary schools to feel confident and comfortable in their own bodies, to build strong interpersonal relationships with others, and to think critically enabling the skills of critical action that promote healthy communities and environments.
