Travelling abroad for the first time to study Organisational Psychology at Waikato University has been a life-changing experience for Siti Aisyah Panatik.
Aisyah chose to do her PhD at Waikato University because of its quality education and research, especially in the area of Psychology. She not only wanted to develop her research skills and knowledge of Organisational Psychology, but also experience a new culture and interact with different people.
Aisyah found the transition from Masters to PhD to be quite challenging, so is extremely grateful for the support she has received from her lecturers and other Waikato University staff.
'I have learnt that a PhD requires a great deal of self-motivation and organisation. There is a greater opportunity to interact with staff and to develop academic ideas, and that makes study much more enjoyable. I also have the pleasure of working with excellent supervisors.'
She has found staff at Waikato University to be very approachable, especially with their open door policy.
'The teaching is excellent here. My supervisors have been very helpful, and I’ve made some good friends. I’ve really grown in confidence.'
Once she completes her PhD, Aisyah will continue lecturing in Malaysia and researching in the field of Organisational Psychology, an area she is extremely interested in and passionate about.
