The importance of research accuracy

IMG_0097.JPGHave you ever wondered  why academics are so particular about references when writing research papers? Have you ever considered why the sometimes pedantic and nit picking process of peer review is so valued in the research process?

Well if you have , a read of the most recent Herald article  in relation to the controversy over climate change research, may prove illuminating....read on..... Climate debate needs facts, not anecdotes...

 The smallest of errors can impact professional credibility and taint an entire publication and even an institution, whether fairly or not. Moving up the scale to manipulation of data, incorrect reporting or failure to report all relevent information can be simply catastrophic.  Rigour in research is something to strive for at all times
