Requirements
The Bachelor of Communication Studies (Honours) degree follows on from the Bachelor of Communication Studies in the majors listed below. Each major takes account of papers previously passed in the Bachelor of Communication Studies degree.
Students will normally complete the BCS(Hons) within one year of full-time study, or the equivalent in part-time study, by attaining 120 points at 500 Level, of which at least 30 points must be in research. It is recommended that students include ENGL556 in their programme of study. The degree is awarded with honours.
Entry
In order to enrol in the BCS(Hons), students must have completed a Bachelor of Communication Studies degree at The University of Waikato, or a qualification considered equivalent by the Academic Board. They should normally have a B+ or better average in the subject that they intend to take at honours level, and a B+ or better average in 200 or 300 Level papers credited to the Bachelor of Communication Studies.

Graduates of the BCS(Hons) who have a B+ or better average in their honours papers and who wish to continue on to masters will normally enrol in the Master of Arts (MA) in either English or Screen and Media Studies.
