Undergraduate Tourism Development Papers
Tourism Development is available as a major for the BTour. It may also be taken as a second major or as a supporting subject within other undergraduate degrees, subject to academic approval of the Faculty or School of Studies in which the student is enrolled.
The Tourism Development programme provides a multidisciplinary approach to the issues created by tourism and comprises a mix of core papers on the construction and impacts of tourism as a social process, as well as papers which assist students to explore gender, ethnic, regional, and environmental dimensions of tourism.
Skills in environmental planning, social impact assessment, and geographic information systems can be obtained from the wide range of optional elective papers in the specific programme. The adoption of ethical and cooperative approaches to tourism planning, management, business, and tourism research is the intended outcome.
