Graduate Study
Pursuing graduate studies in Chinese enables students to develop their language and research skills. It offers students the opportunity to work with a variety of original source materials in Chinese, in order to gain a deeper understanding of particular aspects of Chinese culture and society.
Staff research interests include :
- social and cultural developments in modern and contemporary China;
- contemporary Chinese intellectual and cultural discourse;
- Chinese language teaching;
- Visual arts in China; and
- modern Chinese literature.

Regulations
To be considered for enrolment in graduate Chinese papers, a student should normally have at least a B average in all their undergraduate Chinese papers or in the best three of their 300 level Chinese papers.
All students must have their programmes approved by the Convenor of Chinese.
MA in Chinese
Regulations
Students for the MA in Chinese must take either a 120 point thesis, a 90 point thesis and 30 points from approved 500 level papers, or a 60 point dissertation and 60 points from approved 500 level papers.
