Scholarship Award!
The Department of General and Applied Linguistics is pleased to announce the 2007 English Speaking Union Prize, awarded by the English Speaking Union (Tauranga) Branch.
Owen McCaffrey, who is studying for the MA (Applied) Applied Linguistics is the recipient of the $500 award, the purpose of which is to provide graduate students finance to purchase texts towards their graduate study.
The Department is pleased with the ongoing relationship that it has with the English Speaking Union, and this is the fourth year that the Union has awarded a student of the Department a scholarship. All previous recipients of the award used the prize money for books in their study (and completion) of the MA (Applied) in Applied Linguistics.
The award was presented on Friday 29th February at Waikato University by Mrs Christine Bateman (President) of the English Speaking Union (Tauranga) Branch.
