Scholarship Award!
The Department of General and Applied Linguistics is pleased to announce the 2006 English Speaking Union Prize, awarded by the English Speaking Union (Tauranga) Branch.
Trevor Ray, who is studying for the MA (Applied) Applied Linguistics is the recipient of the $500 award, the purpose of which is to provide graduate students finance to purchase texts towards their graduate study.
The Department is pleased with the ongoing relationship that it has with the English Speaking Union, and this is the third year that the Union has awarded a student of the Department a scholarship. The first recipient in 2004 was Natasha Macdonald and the second in 2005 was Christina Gera, both of whom used the prize money for books in their study (and completion) of the MA (Applied) in Applied Linguistics.
The award was presented on Friday 16th March at Waikato University by Mrs Christine Bateman (President) and Mr Bob Shaw of the English Speaking Union (Tauranga) Branch.
