Career Prospects
Applications of Linguistics include second language learning and language teaching
in its various forms and machine processing of natural language. Courses in
Artificial Intelligence within the School of Computing and Mathematical Studies,
and postgraduate courses in Language Teaching and Applied Linguistics taught
at graduate level lead on from the study of Linguistics as
an undergraduate subject.
Graduates in Linguistics work mainly, but not exclusively, in the area of Education.
Increasingly, they are being involved in policy making and implementation in
language planning and maintenance.
