Career Prospects

Applications of Linguistics include second language learning and language teaching in its various forms and machine processing of natural language. Courses in Artificial Intelligence within the School of Computing and Mathematical Studies, and postgraduate courses in Language Teaching and Applied Linguistics taught at graduate level lead on from the study of Linguistics as an undergraduate subject.

Graduates in Linguistics work mainly, but not exclusively, in the area of Education. Increasingly, they are being involved in policy making and implementation in language planning and maintenance.
