Philosophy
Wanted: Sessional Assistants 2010

The Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies has sessional assistance opportunities in a number of Part I and, possibly, Part II level papers.  These roles involve some combination of taking tutorials and marking, at the discretion of the lecturer convening the paper.  Papers for which we require sessional assistants are:

A SEMESTER
B SEMESTER
PHIL103A
PHIL102B
PHIL106A
PHIL150B
PHIL250A

Applications for these positions are invited from suitably qualified people.  Students who are not proposing to do graduate study in Philosophy are welcome to apply, but preference will be given to suitably qualified students. We are looking for excellent grades in relevant papers, e.g. A or A+ in PHIL102 Introduction to Logic if you are interested in tutoring logic.  We are also interested in a consistent pattern of high grades regardless of the subjects studied.  Applicants should be aware that accepting an offer implies availability for an entire semester.  If you cannot commit to a whole semester please indicate this on your application.  You may be placed on a reserve list of people available for emergencies.

Please send your name, contact details that will always find you, an indication of which semester(s) you are available, the papers you would be interested in working on, and a copy of your academic record to Dr Tracy Bowell, Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies, University of Waikato, Private Bag 3105, Hamilton or email them to taboo@waikato.ac.nz

The closing date for applications is Monday 8th of February 2010. We would still like to hear from you after this date if you find that your plans do include graduate study and you are interested in tutoring.  We maintain a reserve list of people who would be available at short notice as replacements or short-term relievers.  You are welcome to express interest in tutoring for particular papers but offers will be made on the basis of the needs of the Department and the pool of applicants available.
