Public Policy - Graduate Study
A range of graduate qualifications in Public Policy are available. Programmes include both broad-based papers as well as papers in such specialist policy areas as defence, environment, and social policy.
We are fortunate in being able to provide our graduate students with access to many resources, including study rooms and computer facilities. Many graduate students, particularly those working for doctorates, are employed as tutors on undergraduate papers - thereby building up valuable teaching experience.

Higher Degrees
There are two research degrees examined entirely by thesis: the
MPhil and the PhD.
For full-time students the MPhil is expected to be completed in one year, the
PhD in three years. Normally, an honours degree with first or upper second class
honours is a prerequisite for enrolment in an MPhil. Students normally enrol
for a PhD only after completing an MA or MSocSc, but in some cases an MPhil
may be converted to a PhD. Anyone interested in undertaking an MPhil or PhD
programme must discuss their plans with the Graduate Adviser.
