Work-Family Conflict and Facilitation Among Employees in Hong Kong
My thesis aims to develop a comprehensive model of work-family conflict and facilitation among employees in Hong Kong. This model is proposed to explore relationships between possible antecedents (e.g. work environment), different components of work-family conflict and facilitation, and related consequences (e.g. psychological strain). Particularly, it will investigate effects of the conflict and facilitation on different work behaviours performed by those employees. Despite the above topics, moderating effects of optimism and Confucian work values (indigenous work values commonly agreed by Chinese employees) will also be examined in the proposed model. By using a longitudinal study approach, this study is expected to provide a systematic understanding on work-family conflict and facilitation among employees in Hong Kong or possibly Chinese societies. Based on the proposal model, practitioners and employers are also able to identify key issues on how to effectively manage both conflict and facilitation in organization.
