Conflict and Strain: The Role of Coping and Facilitation
Work and family are inextricable in employed women'slives. As women continue to contribute to the paid labour force, they are still playing an active role as the homemakers for the family. Hence, there is a great need to examine how the work and family domains coexist and affect employed women's lives. In this study, I am interested to investigate the effects of work-family conflict on strain among employed women in Malaysia.
The role of coping and facilitation as moderators on the relationship between work-family conflict and straing will also be examined. Hopefully, this longitudinal study on work-family issues in a collectivistic society (i.e. Malaysia) will provide a better understanding on Malaysian women's experience of combining work and family roles. Consequently, the findings of this study will provide specific means for organisations and individual employees in managing work-family conflict effectively via coping and facilitation.
