Enrolment Process for New International Students
When you arrive in New Zealand and come to the University of Waikato, you will finalise your enrolment. Time has been allocated during orientation week for enrolment but it is possible to enrol earlier than this.
You have a conditional Offer of Place:
Go to Level 2 of the Student Centre: Make sure you have the required documents (original or verified copies) to meet the conditions of your Offer of Place e.g. academic transcripts, IELTS results etc. Then, follow below steps 1 - 4.
You have a formal Offer of Place:
Step 1
Go to your Faculty/School of Study: meet a Course Advisor and discuss your paper selection. You will be given a Programme Approval form.
Step 2
Go to the Student Centre: (for directions go to the campus map)
- Provide any required documents as per offer letter (original or verified copies of academic transcripts, IELTS results etc)
- Bring your Passport & Visa: you do not have a Student Visa for the University of Waikato, make an appointment at the Student Centre to assist you to apply for a Permit. Note, you must have a valid visa to enrol.
- Update your address/contact details: Particularly important if you applied through an agent or partner institution.
- Bring your printed enrolment agreement: Only possible if your Faculty/School of Study staff have approved papers in system.
Step 3

Step 4

You are now enrolled!
If you have any questions, please ask one of the friendly staff at the Student Centre.
Tuition Fees
If you have pre-paid your tuition fees these funds will be recorded on your student account. Because fees vary with course selection you may need to pay any additional costs between what you have pre-paid in order to obtain your visa and the costs of the actual courses you have selected.
Prior to enrolling, all students must have read and understood the fees protection policy and the fees refund policy.
Change of Course Selection
If you need to change your course selection after you have completed your enrolment, you need to read about the regulations and process of changing your programme of study. Make sure you check the deadlines!
