Outgoing Exchange Students
Studying overseas as an exchange student has the potential to become a life-defining experience and is your chance to learn about global citizenship, explore new cultures, and expose yourself to new ways of learning and new ways of perceiving the world.
The University of Waikato's student exchange programme offers you the opportunity to spend one or two semesters of your degree at one of more than forty partner universities worldwide.
Participation in the programme is non-competitive although the minimum eligibility criteria is a 'B' grade average and completion of the equivalent of two semesters' full-time study at Waikato.
As an exchange student you pay your regular Waikato tuition fees, are able to receive your student loan and/or allowance, and with some advance preparation will be able to credit your overseas programme of study back to your Waikato degree.
Although most exchanges are at undergraduate level, some partner universities will accept postgraduate students taking taught papers. English is the language of instruction at the vast majority of partner universities.
The University of Waikato sends students all over the world to undertake study through our partner universities. Find out from past students about their experiences while on a Student Exchange.
The next step is to make an appointment with the Exchange Adviser and find out about the Exchange Application Process.
