Yet another beautiful day in Antarctica and we are almost through the prep work to go into the field, so much so that we will be heading out a day early Thursday instead of Friday.
The day began with my Antarctic field training (AFT) refresher course which goes over proper equipment use, health, saftey and environmental protection issues and basically everything you need to know to do your project without causing harm to anybody or the environment. One of our team members Sean has left for his overnight AFT training (which you do first time you go down) and will be getting back sometime tomorrow. Before he gets back we need to get the weights for everything (including ourselves) which is going into the feilds so trips can be optomised for Helicopter flights to Bratina Island. The ride itself will only take about 20 minutes over the ice shelf and the we are there for the next 9 days to collect our samples. Everything is looking good at present lets hope that it stays that way!
