WMIER has a pool of digital recording equipment for use by Division of Education staff members. Our staff can also help you clarify what your ITS equipment needs are for your data collection.

Please note that our equipment is not for use by students. If your students require recording equipment, please contact the University’s Teaching Technology Group.

Equipment available:

  • Digital audio recorders for recording interviews or focus groups
  • Digital cameras
  • Video cameras
  • Digital transcription foot pedals

Booking equipment

Contact wmier@waikato.ac.nz via email to book equipment.

Book ahead

The first time you use the equipment, it is best to book it a day earlier than required so you can try it out before your interviews. Video cameras and iPods must be booked a day earlier as the battery will need to be charged overnight.

There is an increasing demand for this equipment and priority is given to those who have booked in advance, so it pays to book as soon as you know your research dates.

Terms and conditions

All equipment must be collected and returned in person to the WMIER office by the person who has made the booking and who will be using the equipment. Do not leave equipment unsupervised or return via pigeonholes. Please ensure that you delete all your files from the equipment before it is returned.

Transcription

WMIER has a limited capacity to provide transcribing support. Please contact Densye Graham at the planning stage of your research to discuss the possibility of accessing this support or call ext. 5171.
