Frequently asked questions about information sessions
Information sessions are free events hosted by the University of Waikato across the country. They are designed to help students and their whānau explore study options and plan the next steps for tertiary study. You’ll chat with staff about degrees, career pathways, scholarships, accommodation options, and student support.
It's a great opportunity to ask questions face-to-face in a relaxed and welcoming environment. Get clear, practical information and feel confident about what studying at Waikato would look like.
The University of Waikato also hosts a range of on-campus events on our Hamilton and Tauranga campuses throughout the year, designed to provide in-depth information about subjects you are interested in.
Our University of Waikato information sessions are open to everyone. They are designed for anyone considering tertiary study at the University of Waikato, along with their friends and whānau who want to learn more. The sessions are free to attend, but we encourage you to register in advance so we can plan appropriately for any catering and appropriate staffing for the event.
Please allow at least 40 minutes so we can answer all your questions.

On-campus information events
Our Schools and Faculties host our on-campus information events. These sessions give prospective students and their whānau the chance to explore areas of interest in more depth.
The focus is on specific subject areas, providing detailed insights into programmes, courses, and potential career pathways. Students and parents can connect directly with academic staff, ask questions, and gain insight into what studying their chosen subjects at Waikato could look like.
