SMST102

From the shows we watch and the music we stream to the social media platforms we scroll through, media is deeply woven into the fabric of our everyday lives. But how often do we pause to critically examine what we consume, how it reaches us, and why it matters? In this paper, you will be encouraged to reflect on your own media practices—both as consumers and creators—while developing the tools to analyse media critically. Together, we will investigate the cultural, social, and political dimensions of media, asking questions about who produces it, how it circulates, what impact it has on individuals and society, and how these things have changed or might still be changing.
