SOCW401 (or SOCW490 taken as a corequisite), SOCW404 and all required papers in Years 1, 2 and 3 of the BSW specified programme. Admission to SOCW400 is at the discretion of the Convenor of Social Work.

SOCW490

This 60-day placement in a social service or community enables students to develop practice to a level of competence close to entry-level social work. Under professional supervision, students initiate, develop and sustain relationships with clients, whanau, groups and organisations and demonstrate independent practice. This is the second field education paper, leading to a total of 120 days in field education by the end of the programme.
