This paper will critically examine the teaching and learning of te reo me nga tikanga (Maori language and customs) in bilingual educational contexts. There will also a particular emphasis on extending students' understanding and proficiency with second language teaching methodology for learning and teaching of te reo me nga tikanga in the classroom context.
