About this opportunity
This scholarship, funded by Te Hiranga Rū QuakeCoRE, supports a 90 or 120-point Master of Business (MBus) thesis. It offers the chance to undertake a meaningful research project and join the vibrant Te Hiranga Rū QuakeCoRE research community working on earthquake resilience.
A major earthquake in the Wellington Region could isolate communities and leave some 400,000 residents dependent on emergency water supplies. The region’s emergency water plan aims to provide each person with 20 litres of water per day within 1 km of their home. However, there is uncertainty about how well the plan would work in practice because it relies on community participation and local resources, and rests on untested assumptions with limited attention to differences across communities and households.
The research will examine the performance of the Wellington Region’s emergency water supply plan and recommend practical improvements.
