Alternative test and exam arrangements
If you're a student registered with Accessibility Services who requires a more accessible way to sit your tests or exams, alternative arrangements can be made to support your needs.
Initial process
-
Register with Accessibility Services
More info about registrationIf you aren't already registered with Accessibility Services, you can do so now through your MyWaikato.
-
Meet with an Advisor
Book a meetingNext, meet with one of our advisors so we can discuss what arrangements you require.
You can meet with them in-person (Hamilton and Tauranga), online, or over the phone.
-
Arrangements added to MyWaikato
Once you're alternative arrangements have been confirmed in your Study Support Plan, they will be recorded in our system.
Tests
After meeting with an Accessibility Advisor to confirm your arrangements, you can submit your test dates and times through MyWaikato, under the 'Accessibility Services' icon.
Important:
Unlike exams, you need to let us know your test dates and times so we can prepare everything for you.
- Please give us at least 10 working days’ notice before your test.
- We’ll do our best to accommodate late applications, but we can’t guarantee this. Late requests may be declined.
Exams
One you have registered and met with an Accessibility Advisor to confirm your arrangements, you do not need to submit your exam dates to us as these will be automatically coordinated by the Exams team.
Please refer to Special Examination Arrangements for Students with Disabilities for more information.
Important:
We are unable to add or update exam arrangements within three weeks of the exam period starting (refer to Key Dates to find out when the exam period starts).
Urgent requests for unforeseen circumstances will be considered, but cannot be guaranteed.
If we are unable to confirm alternative arrangements for your exams, you may be able to apply for special consideration.
