SheENG at Waikato
A three-day, two-night residential programme for young women exploring engineering

This programme, hosted by the University of Waikato, features hands-on workshops in cutting-edge labs, mentorship from current students, talks from industry leaders, and fun social events, offering a true taste of university life and studying Engineering at tertiary level.

Who can apply
There are 30 student spaces available for the 2026 SheENG pilot programme.
We are on the lookout for applicants who:

Identify as female

Are completing Year 11 or 12 in 2025 at a rural New Zealand secondary school

Are curious, open to learning something new, and eager to explore how innovation and problem-solving can create positive change
SheENG 2026 details
Date: 27 - 29 January 2026
You will arrive from midday on Tuesday, 27 January and depart in the afternoon on Thursday, 29 January
Location: University of Waikato, Hamilton
Accommodation: Halls of Residence, Hamilton Campus
Fees: This is a FREE programme. Successful applicants will have their accommodation and meals provided for (from dinner on Tuesday 27 January through to lunch on Thursday 29 January). Any meals or accommodation beyond those provided will be at the attendee’s own expense.
Attendees are responsible for travel costs to and from the University of Waikato campus in Hamilton. Travel assistance may be available for those experiencing financial hardship; you may apply for travel assistance by providing relevant details as part of your application.
Application dates: Applications open 1 August and close 19 September 2025. Successful applicants will be notified early October 2025.
