FISU Healthy Campus Programme
Building a healthier campus, together.
The University of Waikato is working towards a Healthy Campus accreditation, an international certification from FISU, the Fédération Internationale du Sport Universitaire.
This accreditation recognises universities that support the health, wellbeing, and sustainability of their whole campus community. FISU provides 100 criteria informed by the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) categorised in these areas:
-
Healthy Campus Management (33 criteria)
-
Physical Activity and Sport (33 criteria)
-
Nutrition (8 criteria)
-
Disease Prevention (8 criteria)
-
Risk Behaviour (5 criteria)
-
Environment, Sustainability, and Social Responsibility (6 criteria)
Each area encourages collaboration across teaching, research, student services, and community engagement within the university.
