This paper provides students with knowledge of New Zealand construction law, statutory frameworks, contract administration, and risk management principles, with a focus on practical application in construction projects. It partially introduces students to construction law, enabling them to understand how these legal frameworks shape construction practice, contract management, and regulatory compliance. The paper also introduces Māori cultural values in construction workplaces, including concepts such as whanaungatanga (collaboration and relationships) and kaitiakitanga (environmental stewardship), to promote inclusive and responsible practices and engagement with Māori communities are considered, alongside the implications of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and relevant Māori land and building laws, including the Te Ture Whenua Māori Act 1993, in project planning and delivery. The paper also covers NZS 3910, the Building Act 2004, NZS 3604, time bars, and dispute mechanisms.
