Introduction to PR is designed for undergraduate students who are new to the field and have little or no prior education or experience in public relations. This paper provides a foundational understanding of PR, beginning with an overview of the field, including its history, key developments, and contemporary issues in law and ethics. Next, students will explore how research underpins effective public relations strategy, and how PR activities are planned, implemented, measured, and evaluated. The course also introduces the practice of public relations across a range of organisational contexts, including corporations, nonprofit organisations, and government agencies. By the end of the paper, students will understand the role of public relations in building mutually beneficial relationships between organisations and their stakeholders.
