The programme that WindWood is touring the upper North Island with in 2026 is themed Spirit Dancings.

Works have been chosen with a significant spiritual and/or dance element that are guaranteed to engage and entrance listeners. The energy of Brazilian tango is contrasted with medatitive tranquility of Japanese compositions. WindWood is proud to conclude their performance with NZ composer Gareth Farr’s Kembang Suite.

WindWood is a duo formed by longtime friends and musical colleagues Karen Batten, Flutes, and Jeremy Fitzsimons, Marimba and Percussion. Current, and Ex, Section Principals of Orchestra Wellington and vastly experienced freelancers, they first collaborated for the 2021 Classical on Cuba festival, to great success. Pairing the rhythmic wooden timbre of the marimba with the mellifluous tonal range of the three members of the flute family produces a vast musical colour palette.
