For Christie Davis, the aim of all the hours of hard work she puts into training is part of a plan to be the best she can possibly be. She's on the right track - she picked up two silvers at the New Zealand National champs in February and was a part of the New Zealand U23 team in 2015.
Christie was the Captain of our winning Waikato University women's crew for the Gallagher Great Race in 2015 and is the President of the Waikato University Rowing Club. She got into rowing when NZOC president Mike Stanley gave a presentation at her school, encouraging students to take up rowing.
She’s also working hard on her Bachelor of Computing and Mathematical Sciences degree, majoring in computer science, but even when that becomes a career, rowing will still play a big part in her life. “I can't imagine not having rowing in my life in some form; whether I end up coaching, managing or sponsoring athletes. It is a huge part of my life I don't think I will ever be able to completely give up.”
