Erena Calder Hawkins


Erena has played badminton since she was 8 years old and has gained many achievements in her passion. Her biggest achievement to date is competing at World Junior Championships in Peru 2015 and Spain 2016. Her greatest achievement of 2016 was winning the Mixed doubles title at Australian Junior International. Erena is very motivated and dedicated to not just badminton but other aspects in her life including her academics. As the past Sports Leader at Sacred Heart Girls College, Erena is starting her second year studying towards a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Biochemistry and Biotechnology. Erena has always had a passion for science and wants to utilize this passion to help others through medical research.


World Junior Championships 2016 - 01/11/2015
Erena was selected apart of the 8 member New Zealand Team to compete at World Junior Championships in Lima, Peru 2015. The 10 day event included individual and team events where New Zealand played some of the top countries in the world. Competing and traveling to this tournament was a huge experience for Erena and the New Zealand team. The opportunity to play and see these top countries showed the New Zealand players what they need to improve on to be world champions.
