Kane Turketo

For Kane, volleyball is in the blood. His uncles played volleyball in high school, and his father, who is a volleyball coach, introduced Kane to the sport when he was nine years old. He learned the basics and rules of the game, and in 2012 he became more involved with beach volleyball and captained the indoor side at Tikipunga High School. Playing the position of front left, Kane has competed in numerous regional, national and international competitions. In 2013 he competed in the USA High Performance Volleyball Championships in Florida, and in 2014 competed in the South East Asian Junior Men’s Volleyball Competition in Myanmar where their team placed third. Kane chose Waikato because he sees it as a region that is always developing and growing. As for Kane’s future, he sees himself playing overseas as a professional volleyball player and representing New Zealand in the national men’s team.
