Quin Leong : Bachelor of Business Analysis/Bachelor of Laws (BBA/LLB)

Quin Leong

Quin Leong is a Hamilton local who chose to study at the University of Waikato because of the management school’s good reputation. She is in her fourth year, studying towards a Bachelor of Business Analysis (Financial)/Bachelor of Laws, majoring in accounting. Dance is Quin’s passion, and the reason she was awarded a Sir Edmund Hillary Scholarship. She began dancing when she was nine, and since then she has focused on jazz, contemporary, and hip hop. She has been nominated for the New Zealand Association of Modern Dance (NZAMD) nationals numerous times for jazz, contemporary and hip hop – requiring a mark of 97% or higher in an NZAMD examination. She also placed second at the final of the 2014 NZAMD Nationals in hip hop, fifth in jazz in 2015, and a finalist in contemporary in 2017. Quin is currently the Treasurer of the Waikato University Law Students Association, and was also recently awarded a University of Waikato Blues Award for Dance. Her recent academic highlights include receiving the EY Scholarship, the Staples Rodway Award for Management Accounting and the Bill and Joan Flower Trust Prize in Global Economics. Quin is highly self-motivated and driven to achieve. She has many people that she looks up to, but believes the key to success is to stay true to yourself. Quin likes to keep her options open, but hopes to work in an accounting or law firm after she graduates.
