Anniversary Concert 2012 - OPUS Orchestra
20 Jul 2012 8:00 PM
This concert marks our 21st year of performances and the Orchestra is marking the occasion by premiering a new work, written for the Orchestra by its founder, Andrew Buchanan-Smart. Orchestral Suite: Whatungarongaro te tangata toi tu whenua (As man disappears from sight the land remains).
This is followed by two works from Beethoven, at his most heroic in the Symphony No. 5, and the “Emperor” Concerto. The latter continues our long-running exploration of these concertos with the wonderful Diedre Irons.
