OPUS Orchestra - Austin Plays Mozart
10 May 2013 8:00 PM
Three women have starring roles in Opus Orchestra’s May concert tour as conductor, soloist and concertmaster.
Gemma New - the hugely talented young New Zealander gaining rapid success on the international podium - is guest conductor appearing exclusively with Opus.
Soloist will be Katherine Austin, one of New Zealand’s leading concert pianists, who will perform the ever-popular Mozart Piano Concerto No. 23 in D Minor (K466).
Lara Hall as the orchestra’s outstanding concertmaster will be solo violin for a composition by New Zealand’s Kenneth Young.
Also on the programme with Austin joining the full ensemble will be the original version of Copland’s Appalachian Spring – a delightful celebration of the gift of simplicity.
Tickets: A Reserve $25 - $43, B Reserve $20 - $33, Student Rush on the day $15
