OPUS Orchestra Young Virtuosity Concert

Opus proudly showcases the winner of the University of Waikato Concerto Competition, and this year brings the fabulous clarinettist Nathaniel Smorti on tour. Nathaniel has recently returned from Sydney where his chamber group - the Cerberus Trio - attained second prize in the Estiddfod Festival Musica Viva Chamber Music Competition against groups from all around Australasia. Nathaniel will delight audiences with Weber’s Clarinet Concerto No. 1 – an absolute gem in the instruments repertoire.
Conducted by Peter Walls and led by Lara Hall, the programme will also feature Mendelssohn’s striking Midsummer Night’s Dream, Mozart’s Symphony No. 39 and Meditations on Michelangelo, - a work for solo violin and strings by iconic New Zealand composer Jack Body, featuring Lara Hall.
