With the arrival of Spring, the University of Waikato Chamber Orchestra and Choir will be celebrating this very welcome event with it's annual Spring Bouquet Concert. This special concert will be as full of colour and beauty as any flower bouquet as we present 9 works representing the full range of talent the Conservatorium of Music has in abundance. To start off the celebrations, there will be an additional Prelude to the concert starting at 2:00pm with the premiere presentation of the 2nd act of the children's ballet, Journey To A New Land, by Waikato University student Vivienne Genet-Ward performed by dancers and actors from Tauranga. After this, at 2:30, there will be concertos by Vivaldi and 2 Bachs, beauty spots by Barber and Mozart, the premier of 2 recently written works by Andrew Leathwick and Xu Tang, the University Chamber Choir with Rachael Griffiths Hughes will be performing a lovely Schubert Mass and even Cellophonics gets into the act. This concert will highlight the extraordinary talents of 4 graduating Master's students, Nathaniel Smorti, Lauren Grout, Andrew Leathwick and Xu Tang in final farewell performances with the orchestra. And even a Strauss Waltz gets added to the arrangement with Beverley Pullon singing an inspired finish to her student life at the University. So truly something for everyone in this hats and coats off to the arrival of spring. Come celebrate with us.
