Passion & Poetry - 6 September, 1pm

Be captivated by Rachmaninov’s masterpiece of sweeping romanticism and expressive beauty played by two brilliant, award-winning virtuosi -Melbourne pianist, Laurence Matheson and Waikato alumnus, Matthias Balzat, cello.

Lucien Johnson Jazz Concert -  13 September, 1pm

New University of Waikato composition lecturer Dr Lucien Johnson is performing a set of original jazz music with fellow musical luminary Jonathan Crayford. Johnson and Crayford have been playing together for nearly 25 years, in live concerts and on recordings, in a collaboration that has taken them to Paris and New York as well as multiple tours of New Zealand. Johnson and Crayford are two of Aotearoa's most celebrated jazz musicians and they will be playing new music from their respectively acclaimed albums "Wax///Wane" and "Dark Light"

Lara Hall & Justin Bird - 20 September, 1pm

University of Waikato faculty members Lara Hall and Justin Bird present a programme of romantic violin and piano works. This will be a rare opportunity to hear American master-composer Amy Beach's monumental 1897 sonata, as well as salon-works to delight and uplift.

Where Everything is Music - 27 September, 1pm

Operatic contralto Kristin Darragh will give a recital accompanied by Francis Cowan. The programme will include a rarely heard Canzona by Carissimi, sacred poems by Rumi and Rabia set for contralto and piano by Michael Williams, selected lieder and operatic arias

Flute & Guitar Recital - 4 October, 1pm

Join us for this exciting programme of music for flute and guitar, featuring composers from varied corners of the globe: Mauro Giuliani, Astor Piazzolla, Franz Schubert, Heitor Villa-Lobos, and Philip Norman.
New Zealander Matthew Marshall visits us from Kuala-Lumpur to join flautist Luca Manghi for an hour of great chamber music, showcasing the enchanting synergy of flute and guitar. Don't miss this opportunity of hearing them ahead of their upcoming recording project.

Amalia & Lara Hall, Violin/Viola Duo - 11 October, 1pm

Internationally renowned violinist Amalia Hall is joined by her sister, University of Waikato faculty member Lara Hall for a concert of duets spanning several centuries. Enjoy a recital of rarely heard Mozart, Wieniawski and Bartok

Student Showcase - 18 October, 1pm

Conservatorium of Music students inspire and delight with solo and chamber instrumental works and a variety of vocal repertoire.
