Offline grading worksheet

You can use an Offline grading worksheet with all Assignment Activities. It allows you to download a spreadsheet of grades before they are released to students, or to enter grades in a worksheet and then upload them to Moodle.

Note:

For group assignments, if you have set Group mode to Visible groups or Separate groups in the Assignment's Common module settings, you can download or upload a separate Grading worksheet for each group.

The ability to download the Offline grading worksheet should now be enabled by default. Papers imported from earlier versions of Moodle may still have the grading worksheet disabled. Follow the steps at the bottom of this page to enable a worksheet for your Assignment.

Downloading the grading worksheet

  1. In your Moodle paper, select the Assignment.



  2. Select View all submissions view submissions
  3. At the top left of the page, open the Grading action drop-down menu and select Download grading worksheet.

    Your grading worksheet will download an Excel sheet.  Select the Excel file. You can now review grades, work out grade averages, or enter grades. Save the file as CSV.

Downloading worksheets for groups

  1. If you only wish to download a worksheet for one group, first select the relevant group.

  2. At the top left of the page, open the Grading action drop-down menu and select Download grading worksheet.

    Your grading worksheet will download an Excel sheet.  Select the Excel file. You can now review grades, work out grade averages, or enter grades. Save the file as CSV.

Uploading a grading worksheet

  1. Select View all submissions then the Grading action drop-down menu as in steps 5 to 7 above. Then select Upload grading worksheet.

    Note:  If you wish to upload a grading worksheet for one group only, first select the relevant group as in step 1 above.

  2. Select the file you wish to upload and then Upload grading worksheet.
    Note: This file needs to be in CSV format.
  3. Select Confirm to save the changes to the marks.

Enabling an Offline grading worksheet for an Assignment

Follow the steps below if If offline grading worksheets are not enabled for your Assignment.

  1. In your Moodle paper, select the Assignment.
  2. Select the cog icon in the right hand corner, then select Edit settings.
  3. Scroll down to Feedback types and select Offline grading worksheet.

  4. Finally, scroll down and select Save and display.
