Brave Hearts Exhibit at Waikato

Waikato University is excited to be hosting Brave Hearts, a FREE interactive mobile exhibit on campus.

Through interactive displays the exhibit explains how the heart works, how we investigate heart disease and the largely untold story of New Zealand’s leading role in the evolution of heart surgery. Gain new insights about the anatomy, mechanics and physiology of the heart!

The exhibit is specially designed for students in years 7 to 10 with an education programme linking to the life science NZ curriculum, levels 4 and 5. Please register below to arrange a visit that will include time in the exhibit working on interactive activities and worksheets, as well as time at UniRec Centre learning about the importance of aerobic exercise.

Students will discover the mechanics and electrophysiology of the heart, along with the main types heart of disease and their treatments, through a series of hands-on experiences including videos of heart surgery, augmented reality (AR), tinkering activities involving pumps and valves, as well as touch screens explaining many different heart diseases.

The exhibit will be open to the public every Tuesday and Friday from 10am to 12noon between 26 February to 29 March 2018 and from 3pm to 6pm on Sunday 25 March 2018 during the Zuru Night Glow.
