Large Groups

Accommodation at the University of Waikato is an ideal option for large groups (10+), schools, sports teams, organisations and family gatherings, with 695 single rooms available between November and mid-February.

All rooms in our Halls of Residence are complete with a single bed, desk, chair and wardrobe with shelving. Shared unisex bathroom facilities are available on each level, offering lockable showers and toilets.

Linen and towels are provided in each room.

Guest Wi-Fi can be arranged for large groups.

Additionally, each floor provides a common lounge complete with kitchenette (including fridge, microwave and electric kettle - tea, coffee and milk is provided) and television.

Our 65 acres of park-like grounds provides plenty of space to enjoy games, team-building exercises and anything else you can think of! All Halls are on the University grounds and are close to cafés, landscaped gardens and lakes, extensive sporting and recreational areas including a 50 metre swimming pool, UniRec (gym) and training fields.

School groups

School groups have access to an exclusive space with a number of configurations available. Groups have the option to be housed together, in their own single rooms, separated from other guests or alternatively, school groups can be housed by gender.

Sports teams

The University of Waikato can accommodate sports teams of any size for training camps and accommodation for regional or national sporting events. Sports teams also have access to UniRec, a fully equipped gym, available at an additional cost.

The University of Waikato is close to many Hamilton sporting facilities, including FMG Stadium Waikato, Porritt Stadium, Waikato Tennis Centre and Waterworld. Also within the Waikato region are the Avantidrome, 25 minutes drive from the University and Mighty River Domain, Lake Karāpiro, 35 minutes drive from the University.

Family celebrations

The University offers a range of venues for any function or gathering, including family celebrations and events. Accommodation is available for large family groups, with the option of staying on one floor or grouped together. Bed and continental breakfast options are available.

Catering

We can provide all catering for events, from a bed and continental breakfast option, buffet lunch and dinner in our modern dining rooms to a packed lunch if you are off campus for the day.

Dining rooms in all of our Halls are also ideal  for hosting conference dinners.

Parking and transport

A bus stop is conveniently located near the Halls and cost-effective parking is also available.

In line with University policy, smoking is not permitted in any building on campus.
